Welcome to the German Road Races Association, the interest group for German road race organisers
Throughout the country, thousands of runners fill the streets of cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich, creating a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere at the organised running events, while simultaneously keeping the many volunteers hectically busy for days and weeks. Even though road races have an almost 50-year-old tradition in Germany, the interest group of race organisers has only existed for ten years.
The list of founding members in 1995 includes the famous marathon races in Berlin, Duisburg, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Karlsruhe, and Munich, as well as popular road races like the Berlin Half Marathon, the Nürnburg Ring Race, and the Paderborn Easter Run.

Renato Canova and his interview by Helmut Winter at the Dubai Marathon
Renato Canova is an Italian athletics coach. He coaches the Kenyan born Qatari 3000m Steeplechase world record holder Saif Saeed Shaheen, 10,000 meter runner Nicholas Kemboi, Sylvia Kibet, Imane Merga and Abel Kirui (World Marathon Champion 2011). He is one of the most successful coaches in the world, his athletes have won many medals in top international middle and long distance competitions. With so many good African, particularly Kenyan marathoners around nowadays, it takes a bit of initiative to get into foreign races if you're not one of the sub-2.10 brigade. So when Julius Maisei heard that the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon - an IAAF Bronze Label Event - was paying good prize money without an overly talented field, he chanced a thousand dollars on an air fare and a hotel room last year.
