Stephen Muzhingi became only the second runner ever to simultaneously hold both the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon and Comrades Marathon titles when he crossed a very muddy finish line to win in 03:08:08. The Zimbabwean, a triple Comrades victor, finished fifth in 2011.

Giorgio Calcaterra and Amy Sproston win the 26th 100km IAU World ChampionshipsThe race was held in Seregno, Italy on 22nd April 2012. In addition, Calcaterra and Kajsa Berg (SWE) win the men and women’s European championships, respectively.

The South African Marathon record holder Gert Thys smashed the world best performance for 50km for the 40+ age group at the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon on Saturday, 7 April 2012. Crossing the 50km mark in 2:48:40 on the way to the 56km finish, Thys took near 5 min off the current record of 2:53:21.

PARK CITY, Utah - (April 6, 2012) - YES Endurance Sports has announced the inclusion of a new venue and series championship to its line up of off-road trail races. The YES series will finish its season with a 50K Ultra race in the beautiful Jordanelle State Park in Park City, Utah on Saturday, October 6, 2012.

The 43rd consecutive Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon will remain on the traditional route via Chapman's Peak, Hout Bay and Constantia Nek (unless deemed unsafe by authorities in which case the Ou Kaapse Weg route (prior to 2004) will be used).

Although the registration for the 100MeilenBerlin 2013 is not until August, we already have notice of participation from a big name from the ultra marathon scene: Ivan Cudin, the well known two-time champion of the Spartathlon, will start in the coming year at the stadium on Berliner Lobeckstraße in Kreuzberg.

Aspiring Comrades Marathon participants who were unable to enter for the 2012 race during the official entry period (September –November 2011) have until 30 March 2012 to substitute an entrant who has withdrawn or intends to withdraw from the 2012 Comrades Marathon.
