Rieti, Italy – The IAAF World Challenge meeting in Rieti, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this weekend, got off to a fine start yesterday (28) with a special qualifying event in the Hammer Throw at which Japan’s 2004 Olympic champion Koiji Murofushi blasted out a world season leading 80.99m.

Singapore - The fifth day of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) was highlighted by a World Youth Best in the boy's shot put by Poland's Krzysztof Brzozowski. This was one of 12 medal events on the programme that also included the Long Jump, 1000m, Javelin Throw, 10,000m Race Walk, 3000m and 200m for boys while the girls contested the 200m, Shot Put, High Jump, 3000m and Javelin Throw.
