All eyes turn to the east on 5 February, where the day's programme starts in Japan with the 61st edition of the Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon and the Kagawa-Marugame Half Marathon.
Across the south China Sea the Kaohsiung Marathon is held in Chinese Taipei - the first of three marathons in as many weeks there - and the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon expects a total of 70,000 runners across their three events on the day.
Action finishes with the Vadodara Half Marathon in the Indian state of Gujarat.
