QUANTICO, Va. - The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and U.S. Marines from Marine Corps Base Quantico presented the annual Healthy School Award to the students of Eagle View Elementary in Fairfax, Virginia.
The award is the result of the student's participation in the Marine Corps Marathon Healthy Kids Fun Run held on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Out of 353 schools, Eagle View was one of the top three in overall student participation at the one-mile fun run held for kids ages 6 to 13.
During the assembly, members of the United States Marine Corps lead the students in physical training drills while promoting health, fitness and strong bodies. MCM partners, Sodexo and the National Children's Museum will participate in the ceremony. MCM's Miles the bulldog, Sodexo's Lift-Off! and the school's Eagle mascot will add to the festivities.
