RICHMOND, Va. – The 11th Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K presented by POWERade has set an event record for the number of participants registered. As of March 1, 2010, more than 33,500 were registered, breaking last year’s mark of 32,745. Also more than 1,400 have registered for the First Market Mile Kids Run, which is on pace to surpass the record of 1,891 who entered in 2008.
“The fact that the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K continues to grow each year really is a testament to the widespread community support the event receives from the volunteers, bands, spirit groups, sponsors and the city,” said Sports Backers executive director Jon Lugbill.
Registration is closed for the Saturday, March 27, 2010 Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K, and a total of 35,000 registrants were accepted for the country’s 4th largest 6.2 mile road race.
