Breathtaking Jerusalem Marathon March 16th, 2012
On 25.3.2011 the vision became a reality and Jerusalem joined the list of leading international cities that host a full marathon, drawing thousands of runners and dozens of thousands of spectators. More than 10,000 runners, including 1000 runners from 40 different countries around the globe, took part in the first international marathon held in Israel's capital.
The marathon was declared a great success, with amazing weather and a unique atmosphere embodying true history. There are few cities in the world that can incorporate breathtaking, inspirational views like the magnificent scenes and sites that Jerusalem offers, into a marathon track; views that were admired and enjoyed by runners during the race.
I myself am a sports and running fan and previously completed five marathons in different cities around the world. As part of the Jerusalem International Marathon I ran the half marathon and based on my experience I can wholeheartedly say with extreme confidence that Jerusalem lived up to the highest international standards.
The Jerusalem Marathon is about to become an annual tradition that will expand and accelerate from year to year. The second Jerusalem Marathon has been scheduled for the 16th of March, 2012 and I hope to see you visiting Jerusalem before the marathon.

This is the time to discover Jerusalem.
When people from across the world think about historic places, Jerusalem is definitely one of the first, if the not first, that comes to mind. Thanks to a history that goes back more than 5,000 years, Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world. Over the past 3,000 years, Jerusalem has been conquered, destroyed, reconquered, and put under siege time and again.
So why is this city so important to the world?
Because of years, it has been considered as the center of the world, and so it appears on ancient maps, and out of the city emerged the world’s great monotheistic religious, which still shape the contemporary world.
