The European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO) adopted a manifesto on inclusive sport.
Through this manifesto and against the background of the EU2020 strategy, the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion 2010 and the sport provisions of the Lisbon Treaty, ENGSO aims at encouraging sport organisations to raise awareness and to contribute more to the inclusive role of sport in society.
In co-operation with public authorities, sport organisations are called on to implement actions in the following eight areas:
- Inclusion of immigrants;
- Inclusion of social marginal groups;
- Inclusion of elderly persons;
- Inclusion of handicapped people;
- Gender equality;
- Sexual orientation;
- Fight against racism in sport;
- Fight against violence in sport.
