Symposium in Berlin: “Presenting and Communicating Sport History” – Berlin Sports Museum – “AIMS Marathon Museum of Running”

The conference is a taking place in cooperation with the Berlin Sports Museum, the AIMS Marathon Museum of Running and the Forum for Sport History, the supporting association of the Berlin Sports Museum.

“Presenting and Communicating Sport History” is the topic of the 4th DAGS Symposium in Berlin, which is being organised by the Work Group for Sports Museums, Sports Archives, and Sports Collections (DAGS) and is open to anyone from the sports clubs and associations, as well as anyone from other sport and research organisations interested in sport. ©Sportmuseum Berlin - AIMS Marathon-Museum of Running

(DOSB PRESS) “Presenting and Communicating Sport History” is the topic of the 4th DAGS Symposium in Berlin, which is being organised by the Work Group for Sports Museums, Sports Archives, and Sports Collections (DAGS) and is open to anyone from the sports clubs and associations, as well as anyone from other sport and research organisations interested in sport.

From March 25-27, 2010, aspects of the modern exhibiting of collections and the diverse methods museum can utilise for presenting sport will be discussed and illuminated in the Berlin Olympic Park in the district of Charlottenburg.

The patron of the symposium is State Secretary Thomas Härtel from the Berlin Senate for the Interior and for Sport.

The conference is a taking place in cooperation with the Berlin Sports Museum, the AIMS Marathon Museum of Running and the Forum for Sport History, the supporting association of the Berlin Sports Museum.

The speakers include Frank Dürr and Ansgar Molzberger of the German Sport & Olympia Museum Cologne, Dr. Martin Wörner (Stuttgart) of the DFB-Football Museum foundation, Horst Milde of the Association of International Marathons and Distances Races (AIMS), as well as the director of the Landessportbundes (LSB) Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony Sports Federation), Reinhard Rawe, who will be discussing the perspectives of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sport History in Hoya from the perspective of the LSB.

The accompanying programme will include the closing celebration of the photo exhibition “Jesse Owens – A Sports Hero” in the House of German Sports and an historic excursion through the Berlin Olympic Park.
